Comic Books Get A Reprieve?

Posted by Non-Hamster on November 11th, 2009

Most of my life I've heard people of various stripes belittling comic books as worthless, mind numbing trash that is a waste of time.  I have even had people look at me like I was some kind of idiot when they saw me buying comics occasionally as an adult.  And heaven help you if you're a collector!

Now it seems that attitude may have to change finally.  There's an article about some research which shows that comic books are something that can influence kids to read more at a younger age, which will improve their learning skills and vocabulary.

Now I am not a hamster, I don't think we need to go so far as to have baby strollers equipped with comic book readers but I do think that as long as it's kept in perspective there's something to the idea.

Of course, I wouldn't be surprised if the folks at Marvel and DC are already working on ways to capitalize on this
