Pints Anyone?

Posted by Non-Hamster on September 13th, 2007

Or perhaps you'd prefer to have a liter instead?  After years of trying to push the metric system on Britain and Ireland, the European Commission has backed off.  All things considered I'd say that it's for the best.  From what I've read about the mess, a lot of people were fighting the conversion tooth and nail, preferring to stick with pints, pounds and miles.

I've even seen mention of one ridiculous case where a grocer was convicted of selling
bananas by the pound instead of by the kilogram.  Now I am not a hamster, that's a completely ridiculous thing to arrest someone for.  What does it matter what measure is used as long as the customer gets what they're paying for?  I don't see the difference whether they measure in pints, liters, inches or even plush animals as long as the customer gets what they're paying for and is satisfied, who cares what measure they're using?
