Are You SURE You're Not From Nutjob Hills?

Posted by Non-Hamster on April 23rd, 2010

I got a call the other day from somebody that had what I have to say is a "unique" approach to affiliate internet marketing.  Specifically, they had decided to adopt it for cell phones in general and SMS messaging in particular.

The way it was explained to me is that you send SMS messages to a list of prospects (which until you could actually build a mailing list you could just pick people at random out of the phone book) Then, by using SMS messages that were somehow addressed to as many as ten people at once, you basically walk them through the high points of one of those long ass sales pages promoting your product or program.

The mind boggles at getting one of those pages by SMS.  After about 20 minutes of this guy trying to sell me on the idea I invited him to leave.  My parting question was "Are You SURE You're Not From Nutjob Hills?".  With a scheme like that, he just HAD to be a natural born native citizen of Nutjob Hills.
