Feeling The Power

Posted by Non-Hamster on June 2nd, 2010

I'm in one of my more mischievous moods today and I just had one of *those* ideas.  Some months back I became one of those people that is behind Nielson market research info that stores, especially the large retailers, use to help determine what products are going to sell the best in a given area.

Well, this afternoon I had this goofy idea of taking the barcode scanner that they gave me to scan purchases with and head over to the store and start scanning stuff.  Not just the things that I buy but the things that I WISH I could buy as well.  I can't help wondering just how much it would take for one person to effect a noticeable change in what appears on store shelves and the price it's sold for.

Granted, I doubt that I'd actually do that but the thought, I have to admit, sounds like fun.
