Retro Yards

Posted by Non-Hamster on August 30th, 2010

The pushy salesman has once again shifted, or perhaps the better word is expanded, his sales angle.  It first came to my attention when I heard about a family a few blocks away putting in an actual wood swing set.  This time he's going in a kind of retro direction for the stuff that folks put in their yards for their kids to play on.

Now it's true that a million years ago when I was a kid (ok, it wasn't actually that far back but kids today talk like it was) there were such things, it's also true that most people who had swing sets and stuff in their yards had the kind that were made of an assembly of metal pipes, chains and heavy leather seats.

I have to admit that I kinda like the look of these wooden sets.  They look a little more like somebody spent some time trying to build something that's actually stable as opposed to those metal tubing things that I remember coming apart and getting overbalanced really easily.

All I can say is that at least this time Mr. Pushy has at least settled (for now anyway) on something that's actually worth having.
