Contesting Thoughts

Posted by Non-Hamster on December 28th, 2010

Ever since I reached 1,000 subscribers on my main youtube channel and the 1,000 subscriber contest ended, I've been thinking about two questions.  First of course is exactly what point to do another contest and second is just what should I have for prizes.

As Bob has been all too willing to point out, the "prizes" for my first contest weren't really all that.  Basically they amounted to some free promotion which, as he points out, would be great if I were already one of those really popular youtube personalities.  However the reality is that I'm a long way from being that popular.

So the question remains of what to have for prizes.  I don't have the budget to do really super cool things like HD camcorders & stuff like that.  I have thought about looking into getting some pinewood trophies so that winners could at least have something physical that they could show and say "I won this from TinFoilChef on youtube".  It would be at least a step in the right direction in terms of prize quality.

Ideas?  Suggestions?  Leave 'em in the comments.
