Who Does This?!?

Posted by Non-Hamster on January 22nd, 2011

My house is carpeted.  Even the Kitchen and bathroom!  Who does that?

One of the things that I have never understood about the choices made when my house was built is the flooring.  While I prefer to have wood or a laminate flooring instead of carpet, I understand that carpeting is important to many people and so it's to be expected in many houses.

What I don't understand is why anyone would put carpeting in rooms like the kitchen, laundry room and especially the bathroom where you KNOW they're going to get wet on a fairly regular basis.  It's just the way things work.  Water is used a lot in those rooms and it's a fact of life that some of it spills, is splashed, or sprayed onto the walls & floors.

It only makes sense to me that the flooring be made of something that is water resistant and that is easier to clean than wet carpet.  Have you ever tried to clean wet carpet?  I can tell you it's a bloody pain in the arse!
