Where NOT To Put Carpet

Posted by Non-Hamster on January 26th, 2011

Is your bathroom carpeted?  Of course not.  That would be a pretty stupid thing to do, put carpeting in a room that you KNOW is going to be exposed to a lot of water.

Guess what.  My bathroom is carpeted.

Worse than that, the floor under the carpet is 1970's era particle board.  The kind that crumbles to powder if you ever allow it to get seriously wet.

Personally, I would have designed it differently.  I'd have used a cement floor with glass tiles on top of that.  Not only that but the tiles would have extended at LEAST halfway up the walls.  It would have been waterproof.

Now, thanks to occasional water spills over the years, the bathroom floor has become somewhat hazardous.  There are places where I dare not step because if I did I would go straight through the floor.

One of these days I'm going to have to have it redone.  Gee, I can hardly wait for that nightmare!
