March - The Month Of Green

Posted by Non-Hamster on February 25th, 2011

In a few days it's going to be March 1st.  This is the one time of year that I don't mind so much hearing and reading about green this or green that because March 17th is St. Patrick's day and it has had this whole green thing about it since long before people started making "going green" the big politically correct thing to talk about and do.

If you take a look around you will notice that the closer you get to the 17th, the more green you're going to see and hear about. Everything from green cleaning products to green clothing so that you won't get pinched for not wearing green.  (though I have to say that I don't believe in the pinching part of that.  The last person that pinched me walked away with a hand print on them that didn't fade for three days.)

Of course it doesn't just stop with green.  There's also the shamrocks.  They turn up everywhere.  You've got Shamrock Cookie Cutters being used on cookie dough that has been treated with a few drops of green food coloring to make shamrock cookies.  I've seen some houses that people have actually taken the time to decorate with a Shamrock Light Set in addition to a whole host of shamrock patterned table cloths, napkins, glasses, wallpaper and so on.

This year I would not be surprised in the least if shamrock patterned Skins for the Amazon Kindle 3 turned out to be a big deal.  I have never personally used things like that on my devices but I've seen them enough to know that a LOT of people seem to like them quite a bit.

As for me, I think that for clothes I'm going to stick with my preferred black or blue colors (yeah, I know, wearing both at the same time supposedly makes you look like a bruise) and I'll just dare anybody to try doing something because I'm not wearing green.  While I like green fine, it's not a color I want to wear.
