But I LIKE It Dark In Here!

Posted by Non-Hamster on March 7th, 2011

I should have known that sooner or later he'd be back.  I'm talking about good old Mr. Helpful of course.  Although to be fair, I'd rather have him around that Mr Pushy the super duper salesman corporate type that had vowed to sell something to ever single citizen of Nutjob Hills last summer!

Anyway, he arrived in my office (in spite of locked doors and a big sign that said "Keep OUT - This Means YOU!").  Naturally of course he was there on a mission of some sort as usual.  However the first thing he said as he strolled into my office like he owned the place was "My, it's dark in here!"

From there it didn't take very long at all for him to get distracted from his original purpose to harping about how I needed to have a lot more light in here or I was going to suffer from increased vision problems.  While he was trying to get me to look over a catalog of Maxim lighting fixtures and choose some new office lighting (just why it is that he had that particular catalog with him in the first place is beyond me), I was trying to convince him that my vision was just fine thank you and that I actually prefer to keep my office dark the way it is.

Honestly, I don't get why this suddenly became a big deal.  I've kept my office lit the way it is now for years and over that time he's been in here literally hundreds of times.  Why hasn't he said something about this before I wonder?

Of course, I'm not even going to think about mentioning that to him.  After all, I do have work to do.
