I ran across another one of those terms that, while I'm sure it's been around for quite a while, I personally haven't run into it before. The word I'm talking about this time is "backrack". Looking around shows that it's actually a brand of cab guards, light brackets, rear bars and window protectors that you see on pickup trucks that are used as utility vehicles and such.
At first I figured that only some kind of service professional would even care about that sort of thing but then I thought about it some, I am not a hamster, I realized there was more benefit than just utility. Not only do they serve as racks to carry equipment and supplies but they also help keep windows from being broken and could even have a rollbar effect in some cases keeping the cab from being completely crushed.
