Last Supper Online

Posted by Non-Hamster on October 28th, 2007

Ever wanted to look at a painting like Da Vinci's "The Last Supper" up close... REALLY close?  Well now you've got your chance.  I just saw an AP news story that talks about a 16 Billion pixel image of the famous painting now online.

I am not a hamster, curiosity being what it is I just HAD to take a look. So I clicked on the link http://www.haltadefinizione.com/ at the bottom of the story and then clicked on the picture of the painting.

What you get next is a viewer with the painting loaded.  It's got scrolling controls and a zoom control.  The level of zoom possible in this picture is flat out amazing.  It also goes a long way to show the amount of damage and degradation that's happened over the years.

Definitely worth a look.
