My Computer Is Good But . . .

Posted by Non-Hamster on February 7th, 2012

I have to admit that my current computer, a Toshiba laptop, has proved to be, without doubt, the best machine I've ever had hands down.

The thing is though that in recent months I've had to ask it to do a lot more than it's quite capable of.  Oh it's handling the tasks I set for it a heck of a lot better than some of the POS systems that I've had in the past could be still, there are several limiting factors about it that continue to make life (and for example, recording Minecraft episodes) frequently difficult at best.

Probably the key element is that while the computer is pretty good, has loads of memory and a pretty fast CPU it's graphics capability is limited by the Integrated Intel POS video chipset that it comes with.

It's a long way from 3d accelerated graphics like you get in recent model NVidea cards.  Thus I've been trying to save some money toward building a new desktop system that will be up to recording Minecraft and other games as well as being better suited for video editing in general.

So far however the progress is less than stellar.  In fact, I haven't been able to save a cent.
