A Bogus Note

Posted by Non-Hamster on April 1st, 2012

I actually had something a bit different happen today.  In addition to the usual stream of rumors and "Bob sightings" that seems to never end, I got a note that claims to be from Bob.

In it he asked that I "get a dozen roses for mom and have 'em sent to her on Sunday, May 13 for Mother's Day".  Now I know that this sounds like a reasonable request however there are problems with it.

First off, this handwritten note is NOT in Bob's handwriting.  It's not even close to looking like something he wrote.  Secondly Bob has not been on speaking terms with his mother for 17 years.  (no, I don't know why and don't want to know, it's none of my business.).

Thirdly the note didn't provide any address for her so even if it was genuine I couldn't possibly do what he asked.

Finally, he didn't send any money to pay for these roses which means that even if it's legit and the address had been included I would not be able to do it.

I really wish that if people have to insist on doing stuff like this that they would at least put some thought into it and cover the obvious problems.
