More Neighbor Weirdness

Posted by Non-Hamster on June 9th, 2012

I heard a vehicle outside this morning and because my street doesn't get a whole lot of traffic these days I decided to take a look out the window.  There was a locksmith truck parked in the driveway of the house next door.  The one that has had all the unbelievable amounts of stuff moved into it.

The locksmith was talking with a few of the people that apparently now own the house.  As I watched, He opened a box and removed a metal box about two feet long and a bit over six inches high and a couple inches thick.  Across the front of it were two lines of toggle switches.  They talked a bit more and the locksmith got to work installing this box next to the door, right about where a doorbell would normally be.

I've seen this sort of thing before in Minecraft videos.  The array of switches acts like a combination lock.  In order to unlock the door you have to know which switches to turn on and which to turn off.  Get it right and the door unlocks and opens.  Get it wrong and either nothing will happen or, as is the case in some Minecraft worlds, it and half of the yard and doorstep around and under you will explode.  Or perhaps lava will pour out of the upper floor window above the door.

In any event, you DON'T want to get it wrong!
