Spider Bite Miracle

March 24th, 2009

I just ran into an interesting story about a guy that has spent the last 20 years as paraplegic, totally unable to move his legs.

He was bitten by a recluse spider, I am not hamster, I KNOW the hazards of getting bit by one of those things. He ended up spending five days in a Manteca hospital. Then they moved him to a rehab Hospital in Modesto where he spent five months.

I just finished reading an article in which the writer gave some (in my opinion) poor information and even poorer recommendations about memory for laptops. I am not a hamster or a technician but I do know enough to spot poor advice when I see it. They started out with what I have to say is probably an explanation that caused more confusion than it answered. i.e. those knowledgeable enough to pick out the accurate parts of the explanation don’t need it and those who do need it will probably never figure out the parts they need to know if that article is their only resource.

The truth of the matter is that laptop memory isn’t really much different from desktop memory except that it’s in a smaller package because laptops generally don’t have a whole lot of room inside.

I saw on the evening news tonight that Congress has passed a bill that’s going to allow them to “tax back” the bonuses that AIG handed out to the tune of 90% tax.
This isn’t just a narrow shot at AIG either, the bill is actually aimed at anyone earning more than 250,000 a year working [...]

Just Wondering

March 18th, 2009

My thoughts were kind of rambling around when seeing an email update about the current shuttle mission to the International Space Station.

It occurred to me that manned spaceflight launches are rarely, if ever, televised anymore. Heck, for that matter I’ve found it bloody difficult to even find a live web-cast of these events. Oh, I am not a hamster, I realize that most people are apparently bored with manned spaceflight or have this idea that the money would be better spent elsewhere. (Which is a view that I both disagree with and refuse to debate.)

I’m so tired right now I can barely see straight but after seeing this on the evening news I just HAD to say something about it before I pack it in for the night. I am of course referring to AIG having the sheer unmitigated ‘nads to use bailout money to pay millions in bonuses to a bunch of higher-ups.
