According to an item on Zdnet, IBM and several Linux OS's are planning to take advantage of Vista's failure. In a move that would have you and me reaching for the phone number to that team of Chicago personal injury lawyers, These guys are planning to dogpile Vista.
They're planning to increase the number of "Microsoft free" desktop systems all over the world. They're even going to be including Lotus Notes and Symphony on a worldwide basis by 2009. I am not a hamster, that's going to take a bite out of microsoft for certain.
This plan is being enacted by IBM, Ubuntu, Novell and Red Hat. The article's writer doesn't expect them to do much damage but says that it should be an interesting fight at least.
I'm thinking, what if they manage to start something and two years from now more than 50% of computers are running some flavor of Linux instead of windows? Wouldn't that be interesting.
