Getting What You Pay For - Sorta

Posted by Non-Hamster on March 6th, 2009

As I've said in previous posts, I have been spending a lot of time (and even some money) learning about the various ins and outs of Internet Marketing in all of it's many variations.  To say the least it's been a real education, not only in Internet Marketing in general but also in the various ways that people market different products.  Another part of that education has been learning what to stay away from.

A good example of this comes from one of my ventures into Private Label Rights content.  This is basically collections of articles that when you buy them, you also get rights to use, edit, Etc. those articles just about any way you want.  Since I am not a hamster I immediately saw the possibilities of the time saving that PLR could mean when it comes to needing to produce a lot of content quickly.

The downside is that it doesn't take very long to find out that most PLR is utter crap.  Articles that are only technically about whatever topic they're supposed to be except that the writing is frequently horrible.  That in itself isn't too bad though because you can still use an awful article if you consider it to be a starting point for a real article and take some time to essentially write something based on or inspired by it.

Then there's the almost completely useless stuff.  For example I recently picked up a small collection of free PLR articles.  Once I opened them up and started looking them over I was suddenly VERY glad that this particular collection was free.

You see, it was written in French.  Now there's nothing wrong with that, if you speak / read French, which I do not.  I can pick out a word or two here and there, just enough to say that I *think* several of them were about women's lingerie.  I couldn't say for certain of course but that's what it looked like anyway.

The funny thing about it is that it's still possible that I might be able to find a way to use them.  I'm thinking of putting them through one of those online translator sites to see if the English versions that it spits out contain anything that can at least inspire something I can use somewhere.
