Congress To Tax Back Bonuses From AIG

Posted by Non-Hamster on March 19th, 2009

I saw on the evening news tonight that Congress has passed a bill that's going to allow them to "tax back" the bonuses that AIG handed out to the tune of 90% tax.

This isn't just a narrow shot at AIG either, the bill is actually aimed at anyone earning more than 250,000 a year working at any company that's received bailout money.  This means that there's going to be plenty of others that haven't been talked about so much in the media that will be hit by this.

Of course, I am not a hamster, I know that getting this money back is only half the issue.  The other half is the loophole that allowed the bonuses to be given in the first place.  A loophole that was pushed for by the treasury secretary.

My next thought is "will this treasury secretary be invited to look for another job?"

I guess time will tell, won't it?
