Spider Bite Miracle

Posted by Non-Hamster on March 24th, 2009

I just ran into an interesting story about a guy that has spent the last 20 years as paraplegic, totally unable to move his legs.

He was bitten by a recluse spider, I am not hamster, I KNOW the hazards of getting bit by one of those things.  He ended up spending five days in a Manteca hospital.  Then they moved him to a rehab Hospital in Modesto where he spent five months.

Over the course of doing their thing, they electrically stimulated his legs to measure nerve function.  Imagine everybody's surprise to find out that he wasn't paralyzed any more.

Since then he's been doing some serious rehab, making lots of progress on that walker and will no doubt regain the ability to walk without it.

I just HAVE to wonder though... was that spider radioactive?  Will this man develop a skill for climbing walls and spinning webs?  Will local jewelry thieves and bank robbers start being found trussed up for the cops bearing notes that read "Courtesy of your friendly neighborhood Spider Man"?

I guess only time will tell.
