Another Acronym

It’s interesting some of the things that people will do to language in order to make things easier to say. That’s one of the reasons that acronyms are so useful, they make it easier to say (or type) something quickly. Of course, there IS a problem.. with only 26 letters in the alphabet, plus the fact that an acronym is made up from the first letters of the name of something it is inevitable that they get re-used. I am not a hamster, yet even so I STILL wouldn’t be able to memorize all of these definitions for just ONE.

Which Definition?

The other day I ran across an acronym that I hadn’t heard of and just for the heck of it when I looked it up I decided to post my findings here. I am not a hamster, I know a good thing when I see it, so here’s another one. By the way, when an acronym has so many possible definitions, how can you be certain which one somebody is referring to? I can see how it could be easy to confuse First Data Corporation with Federal Disaster Control if the context wasn’t clear to the reader.

Speaking of Money…

I just saw some interesting trivia about US money

Facts About U.S. Currency

AP- Facts about on how much each denomination represents in the 9.12 billion currency notes the Bureau of Engraving and Printing will produce in the current budget year and the average life for each note:

_$1 note: 45.5 percent of total note production; 21 months.
_$5 note: 15.4 percent; 16 months.
_$10 note: 0.9 percent; 18 months.
_$20 note: 21.6 percent; 24 months.
_$50 note: 4.7 percent; 55 months.
_$100 note: 11.9 percent; 89 months.

It’s interesting to note that there’s fewer $50’s being printed than $100’s or $20’s and hardly any $10’s at all. Now I am not a hamster, had anyone asked I would have thought that the numer of $10’s and $50’s would have been considerably higher.

Shower Faucets

Have you ever stopped to think about how many different kinds and styles of shower faucets there are? I haven’t either and generally, because I am not a hamster, I haven’t thought about things like that more than a few times in my life. Today I took a look at faucet Direct’s web site and was impressed with what I found. They’ve got more different brands, types and styles than I’ve ever imagined. From the simple, basic functional to the decorative.
