Take Your ‘Sub4sub’ And Shove It

Lately I’ve been getting more and more PM’s on all of my main youtube channels that are trying to get me to use various ‘sub4sub’ websites to gain subscribers.

First, they’re not even individual messages. Invariably I scroll down to see the part of the message that says who it’s sent to and it has been sent to 10 or 20 people at a time. a clear indication that it’s spam.

Second, ‘Sub4sub’ is an idiotic scam. It is promoted by people that have the mistaken identity that merely having lots of subscribers is what you need on youtube.

This is incorrect.

While having more subscribers is good, it is worthless if those subscribers do not actually watch your videos. What good is it to have 100,000 subscribers if only a few hundred bother to actually watch any of your videos?

Answer: None.

I would much rather have 2,000 loyal subscribers if most of them were actually watching my videos.

subscribers are important, don’t get me wrong. however actual video views is much more important than the number of subscribers.

Therefore if you plan to send me an invitation to join some sub4sub group, take that invitation and shove it up your arse . . . sideways.

The Latest Aggravation

There are a wealth of things (and people!) that I find aggravating to one degree or another. Some of Bob’s excesses is one example. The overall rudeness of most people is another. Then there’s the skyrocketing cost of just about everything.

The latest addition to this list is the changes that youtube pushed out yesterday to just about every part of the site.

In those changes I think one of the most annoying is their choice to use light gray text on a lighter gray background.

Exactly who the imbecile is that first started that trend on the web I do not know but should I ever find out I would love to let it know just how stupid that kind of a color scheme is.

The point of having text on a web page is so that it can be read. The problem with this color scheme is that it makes text very hard to read. What they SHOULD do is use something with a high contrast like black text on a white background (or the reverse works great too).

This kind of low contrast color scheme is the kind of thing that internet marketing con artists use to discourage people from trying to read their terms & conditions and privacy policy pages.

It’s one of the most aggravating, offensive things a web designer can do.

I can say with a certainty that any web designer who ever works for me will be warned ahead of time not to do shit like that and if they do, they’re fired on the first offense.

This Is Ridiculous

This whole oil spill thing is so ridiculous it isn’t funny. BP is dragging their asses getting something done about this while the spill just keeps getting bigger and bigger. The decided that this “top kill” method wasn’t going to work so they just stopped it. Now they’re trying to come up with another method to deal with the problem. Meanwhile, more crude oil spills out into the Gulf.

These idiots (and I DO mean Idiots!) are sitting back, dragging ass not getting things done while huge chunks of environment are damaged beyond belief. Not only that but you can bet that the economic fallout from this is not covered in the business insurance policies of all those businesses and towns along the Gulf that are losing tourist trade, money, and jobs because of this.

Not only does BP need to get off their asses and get this crap dealt with pronto but they need to foot the bill for every cent that it is going to cost to get all this mess cleaned up. They also need to foot the bill for lost income, lost jobs and whatever else is needed to make restitution for the nightmare that they caused because of their incompetence.

To put it another way, if BP posts ANY kind of a profit this year they I think there’s going to be one hell of a lot of people seriously pissed off about it.

And if BP doesn’t move faster, then this is one time when the government does need to step in. Even if they have to use the “nuclear option” to seal that well shut!

BOYCOTT BP

In the meanwhile. Until this mess is completely cleaned up and restitution is made to EVERY person, business, town / city / whatever and the Gulf coast environment restored to it’s pre-spill condition I think that it is the moral obligation of EVERY human being to avoid spending once single cent for anything BP sells that they can get ANYWHERE else! BP does not deserve our money! DON’T GIVE IT TO THEM!!!

Y’know What’s REALLY Annoying?

I’ll tell ya what. Zit faced little adolescent twits that come along with this “I know everything in the world” attitude and try to prove it in everything they do or say. Yet when you look at what THEY are doing, it’s obvious that they haven’t got the first effing clue in the world what they’re talking about.

I think that in today’s world one of the places to find an excess of examples is on YouTube where it’s amazing how many 15 to lower-twenty-something’s there are (who should be more concerned with coming up with an acne treatment for that monster collection of zits they’re carrying around) that think so highly of themselves that it’s actually ok for ’em to talk to someone two or three times their age like they’re that clueless.

Now I am not a hamster, I’m fully aware that there is the occasional person in that age group who really does have a clue. However that’s the (rare) exception and far from being the rule. Most of these little know it all wannabe’s don’t seem to get the fact that SOME of us were using the internet before they were effing BORN and actually have more of a clue now than they’ll ever hope to have.

And before you ask, NO. I’m not going to name names but if you think this is about you, then maybe you need to stop for a while and think about how much you DON’T know.

Today’s P.I.T.A. Being A Day Late And A Dollar Short

Do you frequently find yourself “A day late and a dollar short”? Do you find that you’re all too often behind the times in one or more ways?

I know *I* certainly do! It seems that almost anything I do I’m way behind the times, by the time I get to it, every body else has already gotten tired of it. Take movies for an example. About two weeks ago I saw Alien Vs Predator and Alien vs Predator: Requiem for the first time.

Look, I am not a hamster, I KNOW that everybody else in the known multiverse has already seen both of ’em so many times they could probably quote ten minute clips of dialog without missing a beat. Yet It actually took me that long to watch as two of science fictions greatest killers tear up everything from Breckenridge lodging to most of an entire town. (before the Feds decide to nuke it that is).

I often have the same problem with computer hardware. For example, by the time I was able to get what I considered at the time to be a middle to high end motherboard, The ASRock K7VM3 had actually been discontinued. The same thing happened with the video card I got a couple months later. I remember when an ATI RAGE 128 Pro was the hottest thing going. By the time *I* got one, they’d been discontinued long enough to be considered legacy hardware.

Recently I thought I was going to FINALLY get current in one thing… I bought an NVidea GeForce 8400gs with 256mb of ram onboard. It arrived today. I’ve been looking forward to getting it because it would make video editing and 3d modeling software run SO much better and it would also make it possible to run Daz3D, a really cool 3d animation package that refused to run because my old ATI RAGE because it didn’t support OpenGL 1.3 or higher.

Also, I actually consider something like this to be a lot more of a need than just a “I really want this”, because I’m doing more and more with video and 3d animation stuffs and I’m very painfully aware of how NOT up to the job my computer is in it’s current state.

Just for the heck of it, I’m gonna ask you readers what you think about how I can overcome some of this behind the times crap and come up with a machine that’s up to what I want to be doing.
