I did something I sincerely wish I hadn’t. I tried out Comodo firewall. I installed it Thursday morning and then proceeded to spend most of that day, up to 1:00am the next day trying to get rid of the thing!

StumbleUpon has become a monstrous success as one of the more unique social bookmarking type sites on the net. Unfortunately it’s also becoming a growing source of irritation. Lately I have received a growing number of stumbles sent to me by people I’ve never heard of and who are not in my friends list.

How shall I describe yesterday? I like to keep this blog family friendly so I’m sure that most readers will understand my meaning when I just call it a “Rolling and Screaming Charlie-Foxtrot”. The details of this adventure is something that my wife will no doubt do a much better job of writing about than I can. What I want to focus on here is the cherry on top of that “wonderful” day.

It’s late at night, you’re just nicely starting to drift off into a much needed nights sleep and suddenly your whole body is treated to a gut wrenching low frequency vibration that shatters any hope you had of rest. What happened? Your neighbor has just started up their car stereo in the driveway.
I’ve [...]

Phones In The Car

May 30th, 2008

Y’know, todays’ technological world has given us a lot of really cool (and very useful!) stuff. Unfortunately, there is sometimes a major lack of sense in how it’s used. For a good example I give you the Cell phone. (and no I am not a hamster. it really *IS* two words, not [...]

News That Isn’t.

May 27th, 2008

I’ve come to really like living in really-small-town-USA. There’s a definite advantage to it. Life runs at a slower pace and there’s a lot less stress than there is with city life. Of course, I am not a hamster, I know it’s not all perfect. There are many ways in which [...]

Well, Nobody got literally shot but I assure you that the title of this post is entirely accurate. An employee of Steak and Shake has indeed managed by his stunning demonstration of how to be an insensitive idiot, to do a nice job of shooting the company in the foot
Backing up just a bit, [...]

Today’s P.I.T.A: Home LAN

January 13th, 2008

Windows networking bites.
That’s about all I can say about it right now after having wasted spent a good deal of time trying to figure out what permissions have been changed, what changed them and how to change them back. so that the three computers on our home LAN can all share files back and forth. [...]

Today’s P.I.T.A: Watchbands

January 6th, 2008

For Christmas this year one of the things I got was a new watch. Before I go any farther I have to say that this watch is something I’ve wanted for a long time and I’m incredibly glad to have it. It’s even the model I’ve preferred most for the last 15 years [...]
