Facebook Overhead

July 5th, 2008

I was just on my Facebook page, editing my “applications” because when I signed up recently I got into the game of the thing and before I realized it I had nearly thirty of them! As if that wasn’t enough, When adding them, I neglected to un-check the box that tells them NOT to [...]

I am not a hamster but lately Facebook has been making me feel like I’m in a giant hamster wheel. Loading profiles isn’t too bad but the “applications” can get to be horrendously slow… as in click on something and then go set up the capresso coffee machine and brew a pot. Then [...]

In the news of events in our family, there’s a new baby born just the other day. One of the various announcements Of her birth was a blog post my brother did over on The (Other) End of the Internet.
The thing that’s just struck me wrong is the sad fact that as of this [...]

Very Young Insurance?

May 28th, 2008

Browsing around and ran across something that just struck me funny. A insurance website that, as one of it’s products, offered “child insurance“. Before I go any farther I have to say that I am not a hamster, I know that it’s really talking about insurance coverage for children…
…but the way it struck [...]

It’s supposed to have all kinds of great features, lasts 12 years without any kind of recharge [...]

Online Glasses

May 25th, 2008

I ran across a cool site today. It’s LBW eyewear, an e-store for eyeglasses. You still have to see the eye doctor so he can figure out what your prescription is, but once you’ve done that, all you need is to get a readable copy of the prescription.
Then you can browse through LBW [...]

Normally when one is using StumbleUpon to see what you might run into it’s not business sites that you tend to find. www.standsandmounts.com turned out to be an exception in tonight’s semi-random surfing. It’s an interesting type of e-store… it specializes in all manner of stands and mounting hardware for everything form [...]

Tech Support Humor

May 14th, 2008

I was stumbing again (is it just me or is it habit forming?) ran across a page full of some classic tech support humor. The Computer literate and tech / geek types will get a good chuckle out of it at the very least.
Now I am not a hamster, I’m fully aware that at [...]

If you’re sitting there working on this great idea for a web page that you want to build, take my advice and DON’T put video and / or audio embeds on the page that autostart. That’s been one of my biggest Internet Peeves since back in my 300bps dialup days. I mean, I [...]

With the continuing rise in the cost of insurance and medical care, it’s no surprise to see more sites that specialize in providing solutions for needs such as medicare part d coverage, so-called “medigap” policies that are intended to cover things that medicare won’t, and so on.
This one does a good job of answering questions [...]
