The economy is quickly becoming one of the single most important issues for this election. There’s the recent financial nightmares involving Lehman Brothers, Freddi Mac, Fannie May and several other formerly high powered financial companies just about caved in.

When I heard about Phil Gramm’s comments this morning I had the same reaction that I’m sure many other Americans caught in the middle between need and greed did.

With the news coming out about some brain trust deciding to predict that gasoline could reach seven dollars a gallon in a couple of years, there’s already a domino effect of bad news spreading out from it.

It seems like almost every time you look at the price of gas these days it’s gone up higher. Thing is, the only reason for it to be as high as it’s been in the last twenty years or more is pure greed combined with a major dose of plain old fashioned stupidity.

Once again gas prices are on the rise. As usual we’re being handed all of the same excuses when in reality the primary reason for the prices to keep skyrocketing the way they are is pure unadulterated greed and nothing more.
Which is why a news story like this one is really annoying:
